Résumé

This publication presents a critical revieew of surveys on the use of alcohol and other drugs by the ederly. Those who conduct survey research on the use of alcohol and other drugs are faced with a wide variety of complex methodological problems and choices. The ederly pose unique challenges as survey respondents and the special characteristics of older persons must be considered in planning, interpreting, and applying the results from survey data involving this population. This paper is designed for persons who are planning to conduct alcohol and drug surveys with older populations as well as those who use result from survey data in program planning and interventions.
