Nathalie Maltais has been a nurse for 24 years. She has worked in various specialized pediatric and child psychiatry settings. Since 2013, as part of her doctoral studies, she has been looking at the assessment processes employed by nurses to determine suicide risk in children ages 12 and under in pediatric mental health. She has been a professor at Université du Québec à Rimouski in the Department of Nursing since August 2016. She teaches master’s courses on helping relationships, the systemic and family model, crisis intervention, and mental health. Her research interests also include nursing interventions in suicide prevention, mental health and, more specifically, child psychiatric mental health. She was awarded the MESS doctoral fellowship in 2017-2018.
