Résumé

Suicide risk assessment is one of the most challenging tasks in day-to-day clinical practice. Bolstered by an emerging empirical foundation, the last two decades have witnessed the emergence of core competencies in suicide risk assessment along with the recognition of the importance of warning signs in formulating imminent risk. This chapter offers a risk assessment framework guided by identified core competencies. It also integrates multiple domains for assessment, including the risk framework to acknowledge the critical role played by warning signs in differentiating both acute and chronic risk for suicidal individuals. The framework provided is simple, straightforward, and practical, providing detailed questions to guide the assessment process.
