Assessment of mood disorders and suicidal thoughts and behavior in veterans

This chapter discusses the scope of mood and comorbid disorders among a veteran population, along with their relationship to suicidal thoughts/behaviors. Assessment strategies for the purposes of both diagnosis and symptom severity are discussed. Lastly, an account of the utility of various assessment techniques (i.e., self-report vs. clinical interview) is highlighted.
